Patent Manager (m/f/d)
Your Responsibilities:
- As a Patent Manager, you will be responsible for the research, analysis, and strategic management of patent portfolios to safeguard the company’s innovation and business objectives.
- You will conduct comprehensive patent searches as well as patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses, while continuously monitoring the patent landscape and competitor activities.
- In this role, you will evaluate existing and new patents with regard to their scope of protection, risks, and opportunities for the company.
- A key focus will also be on building and further developing the company’s patent strategy, including international protection rights and portfolio optimization.
- Working closely with R&D, Legal, Product Development, and Marketing, you will provide sound recommendations and support processes such as patent applications, licensing agreements, or dispute management.
- You will ensure compliance with all relevant legal requirements, identify potential IP risks, and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Finally, you will share your expertise by training internal teams and acting as a mentor to colleagues in the patent field.
Your Qualifications:
- A completed degree in engineering, natural sciences, or a comparable field; an advanced degree is a plus.
- At least ten years of professional experience in patent and IP analysis, patent prosecution, and working with international patent systems.
- In-depth knowledge of patent law, search methodologies, and relevant databases (e.g., USPTO, EPO, WIPO, or commercial tools) is essential.
- Your technical expertise – ideally in areas such as software, electronics, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or mechanical engineering – enables you to accurately evaluate complex innovations.
- You also have proven experience in freedom-to-operate analyses, patent landscaping, and managing global patent portfolios.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and appropriately in both German and English distinguish you.
- In addition, you bring strong teamwork and organizational skills as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; registration as a Patent Agent or Patent Attorney is considered an advantage.
